Some of the province’s best novice (who have lawn bowled for five years or less) male lawn bowlers will be coming to our Club in September to compete in the OLBA (Ontario Lawn Bowls Association)’s Novice Singles Championship.
Our Club is one of several locations chosen by the OLBA to host provincial championships. We will host a total of sixteen male novice lawn bowlers, one from each district in the province, in the Men’s Novice Singles round robin games on Saturday September 21st. On the same date, the Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club (RHLBC) will host the Women’s Novice Singles round robin games. On September 22nd, RHLBC will host the final rounds for both the Women’s and Men’s Championships.
OLBA is the controlling body for lawn bowling in Ontario, in affiliation with Bowls Canada Boulingrin, one of the national associations comprising the World Bowls Board.
Stouffville Club President, George Iwasiw, noted how exciting it is to be hosting this event during our 125th anniversary year. “Being chosen to host a provincial championship is a tribute to our ability to host lawn bowling at an elite level, as well as a recognition of the quality of our greens.
Watch this site for more details in the weeks to follow. In the meantime, mark September 21st on your calendar! Club volunteers will be needed and, of course, spectators are welcome.
